Periya double murder verdict: 14 found guilty including ex-CPM MLA Kunhiraman; 10 acquitted

>The double murder occurred on February 17, 2019, when Youth Congress workers Sarathlal (23) and Kripesh (19) were brutally hacked to death in Periya, allegedly due to political rivalry. The first accused in the case is A Peethambaran, former member of the CPM Periya Local Committee. >A total of 14 people were arrested by the Crime Branch, and 10 others, KV Kunhiraman, a CPM Kasaragod District Secretariat member, Raghavan Velutholi, were arrested by the CBI, led by DySP T P Ananthakrishnan. Of the 16 arrested, 11 by the Crime Branch and 5 by the CBI, all are still in jail.
