How to complete a 1 day round trip from Gokarna to Murudeshwara (+jog falls if time permits) ?

Not sure if this is the correct sub, but can someone from Karnataka help me out with this? Are there buses and trains available that are running at regular intervals? I've seen cabs do exist but their fees are high around 3.5-5K which is out of budget for us. Please advise.
