After the Dhanashree and Yuzi alimony controversy, this is how some people choose to joke. Shocked but not surprised.

In India, you can face penalties for joking about someone's parents or for standing up to bullies using their own language. Yet, disturbing jokes about chopping your wife and committing cannibalism are still seen as humorous. I love my country and am a proud Indian, but it pains me to say that being a woman here often feels like being a second-class citizen. Our hard-earned independence sometimes seems like a facade. Women in this country deserve better—a society where respect, safety, and equality aren't just ideals, but everyday realities. Take the Dhanashree and Yuzi case, for example. Incomplete information is often accepted as fact, leading people to form opinions that paint nearly all women as gold diggers who seek to exploit men. It's ironic that those who create such narratives often don't deserve a wife themselves, especially if they believe they will end up doing something that warrants alimony. This type of thinking reflects a deeper problem in our society's attitude toward women and relationships.
