98 is the new 100

I've been using my dad's old phone (Mi A1) for one year and when I put it in charge it always freezes at 98...to investigate further I keept using the phone while charging. What I saw is that the phone slowly reaches 100. Stays there for few minutes, drops to 98 again, all while the charger being plugged in...
