Making people work 80 hours a week is not how you build a nation
First of all, I think it's against the labour laws in our country. Let's ignore the laws for the moment and let's assume that it's enforceable. Even if we forget about things like burnout and health problems, the productivity that you gain by making your IT workers work longer hours is not enough for India to catch up with the rest of the world. I am saying this with due respect as an IT worker myself. You build a nation by increasing productivity. You increase productivity by working on cutting edge technologies that solves problems in the real world and for which people are willing to pay for. To have those cutting edge technologies, you first need to invest in reasearch. To do those reasearch, you need to invest in people. You invest in people by giving them good education. To make sure those doing reasearch contribute back to the country, you need business friendly laws and skilled workers so that they can set up shop here instead of moving to another country. To get those skilled workers, again you need to invest in education. I really wonder how some people become CEOs of multi million dollar organisations and still have so much ignorance. I guess they care less about the country and more about building their own personal wealth.4
