Why do people think that samays audience likes gaalis more than his jokes

I don't find samays humor dark it's just simple and few of his jokes are done edgy topics. He did few jokes on death which every comedian I know has done.This has ruined his reputation to some extent. Recently saw this clip of purav jha where he told that samays audience are not jokes of his fans but they are fans of his gaalis. When did samay used gaali has a joke his jokes are very well written and has a really good surprise element in them samay should lose that reputation of dark comedian.
