What new side characters to add drama ruined a show for you?

I don't remember all of the shows but from the scenes that I had seen in YRKKH Gen 3, I honestly think that Abhinav shouldn't have existed, as well as the scenes between him and Akshara seemed forced to me. But that could be because of offscreen issues🤔 Whereas in Ghum S1 I liked Satya again of the scenes I saw more than Virat. What about you guys? Which side character was unnecessary in your favourite shows or the shows you liked?
