ITV needs to evolve or it’s done for!!!
I feel like we aren’t talking much about the state of ITV, which is honestly just sad to watch. There used to be all kinds of shows crime, fantasy, horror, comedy, proper family dramas. Now, it’s just the same recycled stuff over and over. Either a remake, a copy of an old serial, or a dragged-out soap with zero originality. If Indian TV wants to survive, it NEEDS TO GET WITH THE TIMES. Things aren’t the same as 25 years ago and joint family culture has changed significantly, people don’t sit together to watch TV anymore, and most of the younger audience has already moved on to OTT. The over-dramatized, preachy, cringe content ISN’T WORKING ANYMORE, but these networks refuse to acknowledge that!!! Like no jokes they’re barely holding on to a shrinking audience, and once that rope snaps, it’s over. If they were smart, they’d start targeting newer viewers or the ones who left because the content stopped matching their wavelength. That means better writing, shorter, well-paced shows, and cutting out the regressive, recycled tropes. TL;DR: Indian TV is stuck in the past, recycling the same old content with no originality. The joint family culture is gone, people don’t watch TV together anymore, and younger audiences have already moved to OTT. ITV is barely holding onto a shrinking viewer base, and if they don’t adapt soon, they’re done for.5
