Gul Khan's downfall
Gul Khan, widely known for creating iconic shows like Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (IPKKND), Geet, Qubool Hai (QH), and Ishqbaaz, appears to have experienced a significant decline in her career. Her current projects, such as a show on Dangal TV—a channel often perceived as catering to a less premium audience—a series on Colors (Appollena), and a Marathi show on Colors Marathi, reflect a sharp departure from her earlier dominance on top-tier networks like Star Plus. The thing with Gul’s shows is that they all followed the same template—hero-centric, Mills & Boon vibes, with the classic arrogant alpha male and the shy, innocent heroine. They’d orbit around each other, fall in love slowly, there’d be a misunderstanding where the hero insults the heroine (a lot), and then once the truth comes out, he says sorry (barely) and gets forgiven. Cue happy ending. While it worked for a while, people eventually got tired of the same old thing. The magic wore off, and now, she doesn’t even have a show on Star Plus anymore—the channel that made her a household name. And then there’s her social media behavior, which doesn’t help. A few years back during Ishqbaaz, a fan said they preferred Saumya with Rudra instead of Bhavya. Instead of ignoring it or responding professionally, Gul clapped back and got really petty about it. This isn’t a one-off thing either—she has a habit of replying to trolls and critics like they personally offended her. It’s almost like she can’t handle criticism and takes everything too personally. Honestly, it feels like a classic case of “pride comes before a fall.” She had all the success in the world, but her inability to adapt her content and her unprofessional attitude seem to have pushed her career downhill.3
