Drop Rohit, get Gill in. India win at Sydney (opinion)
Despite all the negativity from from the Shambolic performance of India. India made a major comeback thrice in this test and blew it thrice. Around all the justifiably angry fan sentiments, I thought of laying out the positives. 1) Yashasvi Jaiswal is seeing balls like a football. He's batting deep, he attacks, he has every shot in the book and many of his wickets weren't his flaw at all. Yes he plays and misses many times but overall he can be the X factor 2) Ik the current sentiment around Virat Kohli but in his defence he was leaving well up until the run out in the second innings at the MCG. He also got that 100 in Perth (which he was kinda eased into), but I still feel he can do the job if he irons out the outside off and run out issue. I'm not a Kohli stan, this is my clear objective opinion. Kohli also needs to be there as you can't have an inexperienced no. 4 at a trophy decider match 3) Even though Rahul failed at the MCG, before that he was India's best batsman barring Jaiswal and given the right situation, he'll be the perfect partner for an attacking batsman. 4) Pant showed he can be patient and not hit stupid scoops in the post lunch session. Even though he spectacularly did the exact same thing right after tea 😂. If he can just be a bit more patient and look at the big picture he'll do well. 5) The decision to drop Gill for this test wasn't objective anyway. He got 2 30's at Adelaide. He looked solid till then. He didn't deserve to be dropped, especially to fit in Rohit Sharma who hasn't gone past 10. 6) There's not much to say about NKR, the perfect lower middle order batsman and a tight bowler, another potential X factor at Sydney. 7) Jadeja/Washy the saviours. They'll come in handy at the flat Sydney pitch with both bat and ball. 8) Bumrah 🐐🐐🐐 I can go into detail about the bowlers, and how they need to get the tail out quicker. Except that the bowling attack looked alright. Not the best, but workable. Given the right field sets, tight fielding and un-tentative bowling, the bowling attack will do well at the SCG.
