Why're Indians glorifying physical abuse in the name of discipline?

TW:physical abuse I was scrolling through instagram reels and there was a reel about how mental health declines when parents beat their children in the name of discipline. I went to the comment section and tbh i wasn't even surprised. Indians flooded the post with 'that's how it is supposed to be' 'I'm glad my parents beat me up' 'Beating made me a better person' 'stop being dramatic, such punishments are good' And many more I don't understand why people are being so defensive towards abuse. Like, not everyone handles it well. Some may be okay with it, some don't. I was born with certain mental illnesses and my parents did beat me as a child in the name of discipline and now, i suffer from flashbacks and a disastrous life because of my mental health deterioration. Everytime i think about the time i was 'disciplined' i just cry because i was just a child. It made me hide all my emotions and feelings from them. The only advantage is the fact that i have extremely high pain tolerance. Not everyone's the same. Maybe kids don't need belts and hangers. They are kids, they do unhinged stuff, all they need is to teach them not to do what they did or do something other than brutally making them cry just because they aren't doing their homework or being lazy. It never makes you a better person. It only makes you hide the feelings you have deeply.
