Assam hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, proves efficacy of the Android Earthquake Alert System as phones displayed alerts even before tremors felt

The northeastern region of the country was hit by an earthquake at 4:41 PM today, 14th September 2025. The epicentre of the earthquake was near Udalguri town in Assam, the district headquarters of Udalguri district bordering Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh.
