Who is a stranger?

I've had this question for a while.. Who is a stranger exactly? Do we consider teachers, house helpers etc.. to be strangers or smn a little closer? Things like that. (I would totally like to know your take on what a stranger is, pls feel free to drop more examples along with your explanation.) thx
