    Learning

Hello, I’m not the most religious person, but spirituality is important to me. I’ve distanced myself from American Christianity as a whole and have been searching within to find ways to become a better person. Over time, I’ve explored various religions and have found some answers, but nothing profoundly life-changing. For the past two months, I’ve been working at a hotel and have had the chance to meet many new people. Some of them have become friends, and I’ve taken their wisdom to heart. One particular friend, who is Hindu, has shared insightful conversations about life with me. Last night, I came across some religious texts in our breakroom. With no one around to talk to and no work to keep me occupied, I started reading them. It reminded me of the nights I spent talking with my friend about life. The texts are quite dense, and I’ve struggled to know where to begin, but I feel a desire to understand my friend’s perspective better and deepen our discussions. This morning, he found the book tucked into my desk, and I admitted that I borrowed it out of curiosity. Now, he’s curious about what I think of it. I wish I could tell him, but I’m still not sure how I feel or what to say.
