I resonate more with Kaali Ma

I’m not religious and I don’t pray. My family is religious except me. I don’t actively practice Hinduism or go to the temple, but that’s because when I was young something traumatic happened to me and I didn’t believe in God, because God didn’t help me. Recently I have been thinking a lot about going to the temple, like it’s a calling. But I refuse to go because I don’t feel a connection, even though my life isn’t going too well. But for some reason I like Kaali Ma. I feel like she is me and I am her. I believe in her power and protection. I see myself in her. I like protecting things that matter most to her and me and the world. I care deeply for protecting animals and advocating for human rights. If anyone could help me understand a bit more of her that would be great.
