My first Ganesha altar
I've been trying to be more devout in hinduism. I've worshiped Lord Ganesha for years (the purple idol is one i made in high-school actually!) but my family are all Christians, so I never felt I could truly worship him, and any time I tried i had to hide it. I've lived on my own for a few years now, but I always felt my religion should be hidden so I quietly collected religious items but never put them on display. But I finally realized that religion should be celebrated with pride and love, and not secrecy. So with that being, I've placed my altar on display so that I can worship him every time I walk past it. For me it's a very big step moving hinduism from being hidden in my room and heart, to a place where all that visit me will see my devotion. I don't have many offerings to give, but I hand painted his candle and praised him the entire time. Unfortunately I don't have any red paint so hopefully Lord Ganesha finds pink a favorable substitute haha! Anyways, I just wanted to share my beautiful space with other like-minded people, and hopefully you'll be able to see the joy i feel when I look at it! (The ceramic dish is filled with rice, the crystals are labradorite and carnelian. And the shell is one I found myself on a beach! I'm not sure if he has an affinity for the ocean, but it's very important to me so I wanted to offer it to him)4
