Do you attend Stand ups(comedy) coz of society pressure?

I have seen lot of folks who attends stand ups coz of society pressure. Are thry really needed or they are overrated. IMO, if you like the humour and stories of a particular comedian such as upmanyu, zakir, etc. then you should go for it. What do you think about this
