Marriage proposal/permission

Hi I've been dating a girl from a Goan Family for 3 years, and I've been given indications she is ready for a proposal(as am I) but that she generally wants it to be a surprise What is proper Goan etiquette in terms of asking her parents for permission? Thanks so much for any help here
