Goa during the invasion/liberation
I've recently read two very interesting books about Goa The first one is "Tempo de falar" It is written by a Portugese mans diary during the invasion/liberation of Goa. I'm curious about a few things -he mentioned that many Goans and Portugese people prior to the invasion were convinced it is just a maneveur from Nehru for before the elections and he would follow through with it. Was this the sentiment back in the day? The second book is called "3 anos após a invasão" It's written by a Portugese journalist who visited Goa 3 years later during the exposition of the St Xavier. He mentioned a case were bombs were found in a suitcases. Was there kind of a resistents fight against the indian government after the Portugese time. Because while reading the book he mentioned that the Goans were very apposed to the idea of the jojng the state of Maharashtra. And just a general question. What do you guys thing would have been the write action to do in Goa. Would it have made more sense to grant Goa a Union territory status? And also does any of you guys have family living in the time. Do you guys maybe have book recommendations or have newspapers or other sources at home? I find this topic very fascinating and since I spent some time in Lisbon I've been able to get my hand on a lot of books and I want to further educate myself on this topic.1
