Why is IndiGo adding widebody planes now?

IndiGo is adding wide-body aircraft to compete with Air India, improve long-haul connectivity, and expand international market leadership. Despite having more international frequencies and seats than Air India, IndiGo lags in Available Seat Kilometers (ASK). Supply chain constraints have delayed deliveries, so IndiGo is wet-leasing aircraft as a temporary solution.
