RTR (A) in a different city?

hey guys i’m from Mumbai, just done with 12th grade and was planning on joining a ground school for dgca papers in a week or so. Upon checking the schedule for rtr i saw that it is in Mumbai in april itself and many classes have already started. The next attempt is in Chennai, in June, and i feel that would be better for me as it wouldn’t be as hasty. Since i live in Mumbai, i’ll have to travel to chennai for the exam. Is it common for student pilots to do so? If not, any advice? Also i heard that you do not require a computer number for this. Is it true?
