I'll pretend not to be sad and alone—Happy Birthday to me!

Exactly a year ago this time around, I had an amazing birthday dinner date with my girlfriend, the person I thought I’d soon get engaged to. But in a country where two different castes are involved, things often don’t work out. Fast forward to today—I’m here, alone, a little sad, and reflecting on where it all went wrong. That said, I’ve made some good decisions in the past couple of weeks, and I’m genuinely happy about how things are starting to turn around.
