BIG SCAM Near Janakpuri! Almost Lost ₹50,000 – Beware
I never thought something like this would happen to me, but here we are. Posting this so no one else falls for it. This happened on February 10th, around 6:30 PM near District Centre, Janakpuri (right outside the PVR complex, near the ATM). I had just withdrawn ₹10,000 cash from the SBI ATM when a middle-aged man, looking well-dressed and panicked, approached me. He was in his mid-40s, wearing a white shirt, and had an expensive-looking wristwatch. He told me his wife had met with an accident near C2 Block, Janakpuri, and he needed urgent cash as his card wasn’t working. He even showed me a fake transaction screenshot from Google Pay, saying he had sent ₹10,000 to my number and asked me to check. At that moment, another guy (looked like an auto driver) came and confirmed seeing an accident nearby, adding pressure. Luckily, I didn’t hand over the cash immediately. I checked my bank app, and of course, no money was credited. I told him to wait while I called customer care. That’s when he started acting weird—first insisting that it takes time for transactions to reflect, then subtly trying to take the cash from my hand. Sensing something was off, I loudly said, “Paise aaye nahi, toh main police bula raha hoon” (The money hasn't come, so I'm calling the police). The moment I mentioned police, both of them walked away quickly. I followed them for a bit, but they disappeared near the Unity One mall exit. I later found out from a shopkeeper that similar scams have been happening in this area. People have lost ₹20,000–₹50,000 like this because of the fake GPay trick. Please be careful! If anyone tries this with you, check your bank balance before handing over ANY cash. Also, report it to the police if possible. I got lucky this time, but others might not.
