Tips to survive college life with no friends in chennai

I decided to change myself by quitting ranting and whining and volunteered myself in a ngo in chennai and realized I can make friends still.Until I volunteered in that ngo, I thought I am a shitty person because nobody in the college included me in their gangs or groups. I feel often avoided in college. A college guy always calls me out anaathai (orphan) everytime and says no one gives a damn whether I'm present or absent in college. Sometimes I, myself feel like that with no calls or messages towards me. So any tips to survive college life with no friends? Or any tips to be like you guys getting calls and messages; being included in a social circle.
