Questions on interest/principal break given by banks during covid?

Hello all, Can anyone explain the interest/principal break/relaxation given by banks during covid. My dad was asking me about this as he feels his friend is being overcharged for things that happened during the covid relaxation. Here are a few questions that will help, 1) What was the actual policy of that break/relaxation? 2) Does it include only interest or even the principal? 3) Does this apply to personal loan and home loan or one of the either? 4) How long was the break for and what happened to principal/interest after the break?
