People of Chennai, views on this?

Was watching this Podcast few days back and was taken aback after seeing him wear a mask for talking and leaving India for an AQI of 150. The AQI issue is very serious and public have to shed some lights inorder for a change. He also mentioned that's AQI of more than 100 is like smoking 3ish ciggerates per day.
