Need Advice - Chennai day visit during / after rains

Hello Reddit folks, I am planning to visit Chennai tomorrow (Dec 19) via train early morning from Vellore and plan to take taxi to do some purchases and return in the evening train around 6pm. Chennai purchases will be Mylapore, Alwarpet, Nungambakkam and Besant Nagar. I am visiting Chennai after 10 years so want to hear from you all if it is a good idea to plan a visit after today’s (Dec 18) heavy rains? Not sure of the flooding/ traffic delays due to rain damage. If it’s not a good idea I can move my trip to Friday, Dec 20.
