Good areas to live for a single female

Hello people A girl in late twenties looking to move to Chennai. I am from TN but working completely remote. I feel like it's time to move out of my parent's place and start living by myself. My workplace is not in Chennai but it is the easier choice for me to start living alone in terms of accessibility and other factors. I am planning to stay in a hostel for the first month and look at flats. Mostly looking for studo or 1bhk flats and will look into shared flats if really good. Now what are the good and safe ways to look for an accomodation? What all should I consider? which areas can I consider? I am using the flat and flatmates facebook group. Are the nobroker and similar apps worth it? Would be grateful for any suggestions 🙏🏽
