Women of Chennai, how many of you follow restrictions during your periods?

Restrictions like “no entering the kitchen”, “no doing poojas” etc. You get the idea. Just trying to understand how many women follow these rules, willingly or unwillingly. I’m a guy and I never really understood why this is a thing, and I don’t intend to subject my future daughters through this. Letting them take it easy during their periods is one thing, but imposing such rules on them doesn’t sound good to me. Asking this question here since I’m from Chennai, and I want to better understand the women of my city.
