YouTube and Instagram is full of moral policing boomers and incels
Recently a police constable was harassing a woman (who also happens to be a lawyer) sitting with her friend in Marina Beach. She (rightfully) asked him to mind his own business and asked “husband wife ah nu yen kekareenga yen inga ukkandu pesina enna ippo?” The constable says “iruttu la enna panreenga” for which she replies “inga enga iruttu irukku?” And in her phone camera we can see that it is a well lit place and no “illegal” activity was going on. The constable must have thought he can intimidate the people and get maamool or simply throw around his weight on some youngsters. That constable has been transferred to another department and the Deputy Commissioner has reiterated that there is nothing wrong if men and women sit together is a public place or go out at night. When I opened the YouTube and Instagram comments, I was shocked to see so many men (and even some women!) slut-shame the woman (no mention of the guy sitting with her of course) and bootlicking the policeman (sAlUtE tO pOlIcEmAn). They mention Anna university case as an example (4 per ivala rape panna appo theriyum police oda arumai) and they want this policeman to get promoted (wtff). So if a woman goes to park or beach to hang out with friends or boyfriend, then she deserves harassment and rape! Chennai is not at all progressive and I’m ashamed of these boomer aunties and uncles who just can’t mind their own fucking business ever. And the youngsters go full incel mode when they see women just existing.2
