Corrupt police and reckless divers in Kovalam.

Yesterday, I was traveling to Kovalam with my family. They were in a car, and I was riding my bike GT650. Suddenly, a 2004 Honda City hit me from behind. I stopped my bike immediately, and my family, seeing what happened, also stopped their car right away. The driver of the Honda City apologized. Fortunately, there was no damage to me or my bike. The car was occupied by five men, four of them were drunk, while the driver was sober and he claimed himself as an advocate. They had been rash driving before this incident, and this accident caused their car’s bumper to break. These men forced my family and me(including my sisters, aunt, kids, and brother in law) and demanded 13k for the repair. These guys were locals with more contacts. I called 100 to report this incident, but the advocate and he spoke to a SI from the Tambaram crime branch. The SI and advocate spoke to the police and managed to send them away, saying that we will compromise. I tried to explain the situation to the police but there were of no help. The police guy why came to the spot, called me later and asked me not to pay any money. I was like what the actual fuck, Atleast he could have told this in the spot and helped me. The local guys started demanding 7k. The Tambaram SI, without considering what had actually happened, ordered me to pay the 7k and leave the spot. I clearly told him everything, but he kept saying give them the money and leave, thank god that you are alive without any injuries. Something bad might have happened (indirectly telling me that they might have killed me in the accident) I couldn’t believe it, I hadn’t done anything wrong. I’m a very responsible driver, always following the speed limits, I was cruising at a safe 50-60 km/h. Under pressure, I was forced to pay 7k to one of the drunk asshole. The SI shamelessly mentioned that one of the guy owns multiple resorts in ECR and Kerala where police officers stay. Since I live far from ECR and have no contacts in that area, I had no choice but to pay them and leave. So anyone with powerful contacts can do anything and the police will turn blind? I’m extremely disappointed and haven’t been able to sleep since. I did nothing wrong, but just because I had a GT650, they took 7k from me. Being with my family, I had no option but to pay and leave. This was the only way to ensure my family’s safety.
