Is Metro really the best option for Tricity?? Post your thoughts👇
Couldn't we just do more with better bus services and tramways in Chandigarh. Having just one integrated public transport system (Bus) in Tricity that focuses not only on Chandigarh, but also the satellite towns (Mohali really needs that). TBH, I think that there's still a long way to build a metro system in tricity. We just don't have the population density for that, Although we could have a rapid rail system, just connecting all satellite towns. Tricity is just really street-centric and people just won't shift to metro unless the roads are congested as hell. Moreover, we don't have such a large working class population like Bombay, Delhi or Bangalore, which ARE the people who use metro systems. In conclusion, I thing just expanding the bus network and organizing traffic in a better way (especially in cities like Mohali) along with making more One way streets is the solution. Mohali has some streets that are too damn wide to be 4 lane and to narrow to be double, like the one along the district courts, won't it be better to have asymmetric 3 lane streets there (2 lanes for one side and one for the other) or just making roadside parking there (like in american downtowns, on the streets, [https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ad/Darby\_Street\_Pre-Shared\_Space\_Change.jpg/400px-Darby\_Street\_Pre-Shared\_Space\_Change.jpg](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ad/Darby_Street_Pre-Shared_Space_Change.jpg/400px-Darby_Street_Pre-Shared_Space_Change.jpg) ) What do you guys think??? Edit: Oh and proper lane marking as well, even on the smaller streets1
