Dealing with a Reckless Driver in the Family: Seeking Perspectives

My brother-in-law lives in another city and is a reckless driver, I try to avoid traveling in his car whenever possible. However, there are situations where it becomes unavoidable. His typical driving style includes cutting lanes at high speed, overtaking dangerously getting very close tailgating other vehicles, driving rashly on busy roads so on . Recently, we were in the car with the entire family, and when I asked him to drive more carefully for everyone's safety, he got offended and retorted, "Tumhari hi fat ti hai, koi aur kuch bol nahi raha." They hardly visit us few times a year and I didn't want to create a scene and so does anyone from my family hence they keep quite. But This has left me wondering how to handle such situations. While I often express that many Indian drivers are careless, it’s frustrating to have someone in my own family driving this way. What are some constructive ways to deal with such scenarios?
