Bollywood Needs a Script Review Committee

Bollywood films are mounted with huge astronomical budgets but their scripts are often nonsensical. Nowadays most of them are flopping. I just dont understand why their scripts dont undergo proper review or scrutiny. The scripts are often so illogical that its baffling. A few days ago, i had an idea: what if bollywood producers formed a review committee of 50 members?? This committee could include 20 college students majoring in mass media, 10 professional film critics and 20 regular audience members who are avid bollywood fans. To ensure diverse...

Hey guys, looking for recommendation on bollywood movies from 2020-2024

I haven't seen any bollywood movies since before 2020s when I lived with an Indian friend. I'm looking for newer bollywood movies that are a good mix of fun and drama. What I **don't** want is : 1. Movies about rural India, showing the poverty or religious issues. These movies get too heavy for the crowd of people I wanna play it for. 2. The action movies where one guy beats everyone up and makes everyone fly. (Dabang) 3. Slapstick comedy (like Welcome) Some Bollywood movies we have enjoyed...

Is there any Bollywood movie equivalent to The Shawshank Redemption?

Recently I watched "The Shawshank Redemption" it is a simple but very inspiring movie. There are two scenes in particular in the film that made my eyes watery. The first when Andy turns on the opera on the record and every prisoner of the shawshank listens to it very carefully thinking about freedom and the second when andy finally escapes shawshank and feels the rain. The shawshank is a movie about ‘HOPE’. It isn't a very high concept film but very effective

    Marathification of Bollywood

Is it just me, or are others also tired of Bollywood’s obsession with “Marathi-fication”? From Chhava to Singham to Deva, these films are not only poorly made but also offer a shallow, stereotypical portrayal of Maharashtra and its people. I’d love to hear your thoughts—what are your favorite films that genuinely capture Maharashtra? Personally, I prefer movies like Encounter: The Killing, Vaastav (with Naseeruddin Shah), and better cop dramas like Yeshwant over this current wave of mediocrity.
