How did B-wood pull Tumbbad ?

My friend from Indore showed me Tumbbad last week. Me and my south indian gang could never beleive that B-wood could cook something like this 5 years ago. Maybe we are too ignorant (forgive our two fried brain cells), enlighten us with some similar plots and movies.
