How to get a birth certificate for a newborn in Bangalore?
1. Fill out Form-1 for births and submit it to the hospital where the child was born.
2. If the hospital doesn't send the registration letter to the Registrar's office, obtain a letter from the hospital with all the birth details.
3. Visit your nearest District Statistical Officer to check the registration details.
4. Fill out the Form No. 1 and submit it to the registrar of your jurisdiction.
5. If the child's name has been decided, specify it in the initial application. Otherwise, you can add the name later at the BBMP office before collecting the actual certificate.
6. For girls born after March 31, 2006, in a BPL family in Karnataka, enroll them under the Bhagyalakshmi scheme through the nearest Anganwadi.
7. Gather the required documents as proof for issuing the certificate to expedite the process.
8. Visit the designated center or apply online through the registration website to initiate the birth certificate application.
9. Pay any applicable fees for delayed registration based on the timeframe:
- Within 21 days: No fee.
- 21 to 30 days: Fine of Rs 25.
- After 30 days and within a year: Fine of Rs 50, along with submission of an affidavit.
10. If the birth is not recorded, obtain a Non-Availability Certificate from the BBMP. Submit a form and address proof to the BBMP authorities for verification and issuance of the acknowledgement.
11. In some government hospitals, the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) can certify births, and the certificate can be obtained from the hospital itself.
12. For Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), record the birth event at the Indian Consulate. If the child returns to settle in India, register the birth within 60 days of arrival. After 60 days, follow the procedure for delayed registration within India.
