Bangalore IMAX rant
I have been to 20+ IMAXes in India and abroad and Bangalore has the worst kept IMAX theatres in the country, PVR is to blame PVR Koramangala IMAX was PVR’s first IMAX. In 2012, and they haven’t upgraded it since. Carpet’s coming off, cup holders falling apart, no ceiling covers ffs, walls peeling off, and no 4K Laser upgrade despite it being the #1 box office venue for Oppenheimer. Delhi, Mumbai have such clean seats with plush recliners, but not Bangalore VR IMAX is also falling apart, Vega City is genuinely well made, with a proper stadium seating which mimics real IMAXes but poor maintenance. INOX Mantri Mall’s lights don’t work lol Cinepolis Shantiniketan is the only well kept one to be honest, but no Laser Most Tier 1 metros have a 4K Laser IMAX. And believe me, Oppenheimer in 4K IMAX with Laser was one of the sharpest movie experiences for me (close to Shankarnag ONYX) Sure, 70mm and 100ft “real IMAX” large screens are not economically feasible in India but even for retrofits, I think Bangalore deserves a clean, premium and IMAX with Laser theatre.1
