Landlord Asking Me to Sign Two Rental Agreements for Audit Reasons – Should I Be Concerned?
I’ve been renting the same property for 4 years, and I’ve had a decent relationship with my landlord. Recently, he’s asked me to sign **two rental agreements**, and I’m a bit unsure about it. Here’s the situation: * The **current address**, where I’m living, is registered under his name. * However, I’ve always transferred rent to his mother (the PAN card holder). * Now, he’s asking me to sign a second rental agreement showing that I’m living at an address that belongs to his mother. He says this is to avoid potential audit issues for himself, as advised by his CA. From what I understand, this is meant to help him, but I’m not sure if it could create any problems for me legally or financially. He’s assured me it’s fine, but I don’t want to unknowingly sign something that could cause complications. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Should I push back or ask for further clarification in writing? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!4
