Caretaker faked rental agreement

Caretaker misinformed real rents and advance , through forged rental agreement signed by themself as tenant. I have proof in WhatsApp and actual tenant ready to witness. Can I raise police FIR? or have to go through lengthy legal process? How can I recover the lost rents?
