Why so much hate fot north east people?

I had an encounter something left me feeling incredibly angry and disheartened. It made me reflect on how racist we Indians can sometimes be. I was talking to someone for about two hours, and during our conversation, he asked me which state I was from. When I told him I was from Himachal, he immediately said, “Momo wali, Momo wali.” It was only later that I realized he assumed all himachlis have Mongolian eyes. (And also his knowledge in geography pretty shit he thought himachal is in north east lol) And honestly not the first time something like that happened even 3 -4 times I heard such racist remarks from people who have little knowledge of this state since people don't actually know only 20 -30% himachlis have Mongolian eyes and others look like punjabis or kashmiris. This made me think deeply about the racism and stereotyping faced by people from the Northeast. If someone like me, from Himachal a state not typically associated with people of Mongolian features can experience such ignorance, how much more discrimination do Northeastern Indians endure every day? How much racism do they have to face? Like seriously why so much hate just because they look bit different and honestly Mongolian eye features are one of the cutest features and we make them insecure about something which they are neither at fault nor it's under their control. Then Indians start crying under videos when they face racism in korea or thailand , we should really look into us first , how we treat our fellow indians , this is one the reason why racism against us is normalized cause we aren't less racist people .
