When does Indian-origin stop being Indian origin for Indians ?

We are so used to see Indian origin person is the CEO, CFO, PM etc. Rishi Sunak is tagged Indian origin, so is Sundar Pichai. Singapore PM Tharman Shanmugaratnam was called Indian origin by Indian media even though he was born in Singapore, His father was born in Singapore and his grandfather was a Sri Lankan Tamil. If Indian media can claim 3rd generation Singaporean of Sri Lankan Tamils origin as Indian origin when does one stop being Indian origin ? Why aren’t Pakistanis and Bangladeshis called Indian-origin ?
