Visiting India with my husband for his mothers funeral

My husband, his brother, father, and some of the men left to go do pooja and such so it’s just me and his boa and chachi at home rn. I have been in my room all morning as I feel like shit and cramping and overall don’t feel well (on my period). I don’t want to come off as rude by hiding away in the bedroom while his boa and chachi are over cooking and just hanging around. Is it rude or just distasteful if I tell them I’m on my period? They are older women and I’m not sure how taboo periods are in India, especially when it comes to older Hindu ladies. I don’t know that this is relevant but, I don’t speak any Hindi and am American. Any advice?
