Last Minute Visa

My husband (India citizen), my daughter and I (US citizen) I have been traveling this holiday season to a number of countries. Last I thought India was a visa on arrival for US citizens. Last minute double checking, it appears as we need a visa prior to arriving in India. Our flight is in less than 24 hours. Are we completely screwed? Is it possible to do visa on arrival in India or has anyone else been in this situation before?
