Is male self care considered "gay" ?

So I'm a 21 year old male and since i don't have a good facial hair growth so i shave once every 2-3 days and i think it looks good on me. And also I've very thick eyebrows so i get em threaded once a month . And i also don't prefer going out without taking a bath. And I've encountered a lot of people (even my friends) call me " MEETHA" "GAY". i mean why does the people is this country has a mentality so far behind that even basic self care is considered "gay". ( Although i don't have a problem with gays but since I'm not one I don't like myself to be associated with). I'm sorry if i ranted a bit . It gets frustrating at times. Tell me your opinion guys
