Are parents more toxic these days ?

Hi guys . So last night , me and my bestfriend were going back home from college and we were at the airport , in our IIT hoodie so as expected we were getting a lot of attention . For context we are freshies in a tier-1 old IIT . There were 5 or 6 families with kids \[ mostly teens \] and we both were just chilling in the lounge area and a few parents came to talk to us , you know that general stuff about coaching , study material , campus and placements and all that . I was shocked to hear that most of them were planning to send their kids to Kota in class 6 , 7 and 8 and then 3 aunties were literally saying that they beat their children if they don't score enough marks to be in top 5 of the class and they cut off their tv , phones and games { their kids are in class 6 and 7 by the way} , they even said that they don't allow their children to make friends because they might distract them from studies and they were proudly admitting this in front of everyone . I was like WTF !!!! Me and my bestfriend tried our best to convince all of them but they were dedicated to ruin the lives of their children so ultimately we gave up and agreed with what they were saying because we were not in the mood to argue . Their kids started talking to us when their parents were talking to each other and even they said that bhaiya we are fed up from all this and asked us to convince their parents but we failed to do so . I thought parents nowadays are more supportive and understanding after the expansion of online ED-Tech platforms and all that negative news from Kota regarding ruined lives and su\*cides but I was wrong .
