A random VC gossip session turned into an assault

TW- assault, trespassing This happened just a 30 mins ago. I was on video call with my friend, he was alone in his rented room, upon hearing some yelling and shouting outside he went out of the room, I was still on VC, asked him what's going on what's happening? For a minute he stood just outside the room on the veranda then decided to steer clear of the whatever the situation was...came back inside, shutting the door BAM !!! All I can see is the is phone the floor I'm still on VC some random people barged in and started beating the shit out of him throwing the furniture and broke his laptop and one guy took this huge piece of wooden plank and banged it on the table repeatedly breaking it apart right above the phone on the floor. I could hear him shouting for help, those goons yelling cursing. This happened within the span of 3-4 minutes. Then they left. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE. Those were random strangers. I'm still shook from the incident, this was a fairly safe location where it happened. I used to live in that place myself couple of years back. My guess is they saw him with a phone in his hand and thought he was recording them
