Is a life without a family, focused solely on personal interests, fulfilling?

If I choose not to have a family and dedicate my time entirely to pursuing my interests(ambitious ones and not) , what are your thoughts on this lifestyle? Many might be living this, of any of you have been living or in know someone living like this, Share your thoughts?
