Would you marry someone for love or a big business empire?
I(24F) recently heard about guys who don’t woo women for love, but for their family business empire. Their mindset? If they marry an only daughter from a wealthy business family, they might inherit the company or at least get a hefty share. The audacity is insane. It got me thinking, what if I were in that position? If I were my parents only child (I do have a younger brother, but hypothetically speaking), there’s no way I’d let my future husband just get in and claim a stake in the business my family built with their blood, sweat, and tears. Why should he get ownership of something he had zero contribution to, just because he married me? If it were up to me, I’d keep the business entirely in my name and run it independently. My future husband wouldn’t get a single share unless he invested his own money and bought into it like any other stakeholder. Marriage doesn’t equal a free business empire. Maybe I sound ruthless to some, but I have a business mindset, no one, not even my husband, gets a piece of the pie without earning it. What do you guys think? Should a family business stay in the bloodline, or do you believe in sharing it with a spouse?3
