Why Are Most Indian Influencers So Cringe and Toxic?
Is it just me, or are most Indian influencers becoming more unbearable by the day? From fake accents to over-the-top reels, it feels like they’re more about flaunting a fake, staged life than doing anything meaningful. Sure, this trend exists in the West too, but it’s spreading way too fast in India, and it’s honestly disturbing. What’s worse is how some of them misuse religion and culture just to gain followers. Suddenly, everyone’s a spiritual guide or cultural expert, twisting meaningful traditions into cheap trends for clout. It’s so fake and disrespectful. Influencers are supposed to be people we look up to—someone who inspires us, motivates us, or teaches us something valuable. Instead, many of them are promoting consumerism, fake beauty standards, and a toxic comparison culture. Their massive reach is influencing millions, especially young people, and creating unrealistic expectations about life, success, and even spirituality. How did we end up here? Shouldn’t influencers be making a positive impact on society instead of turning everything into a cringe-worthy performance? What’s your take? Are Indian influencers inspiring anyone, or are they just dragging us down?13
