Love Marriage, No Family Support – Torn Between Moving Abroad and Staying in India
I’m a 30M working in the IT sector, and my wife is also 30, employed in a state government job (desk work, no bribes). Together, we earn around 1 lakh per month. We had a love marriage, so we don’t have support from either of our families. We don’t have kids yet, and my wife doesn’t have any extended family here either. Lately, I’ve been seriously considering moving abroad. I’m worried about issues like corruption, muscle power, and how our taxes are spent here in India. I believe that settling overseas could offer us a better standard of living, improved infrastructure, and a more transparent environment. However, my wife prefers staying in India. She values the stability and security of her government job and is hesitant to leave behind the life we’ve built here in Chennai. Even though we don’t have extended family support, she feels comfortable and content with our current situation. I’m torn between: * Pursuing better opportunities and a potentially higher quality of life abroad vs. * Staying in India and maintaining the stability and comfort we currently have. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How did you decide whether to move or stay? Did you face any regrets or find peace with your choice? I’d really appreciate any advice, personal stories, or insights that could help us make the best decision for our future.5
